You Were Right

Im scared.  Im anxious.  I need more information.  I had an ultrasound on my gallbladder yesterday morning and I got the results tonight.  I have many stones and they want to surgically remove my gallbladder.  They want to remove a piece of my body.  That is scary.  I am going to meet with the surgeon tomorrow afternoon to discuss my options, if I have any.  I have also talked to my nutritionist and she mentioned that it is possible to dissolve stones by consuming beet juice and green apples.  I am consuming green apples, I dont like beets.  I am going to try and juice some beets tomorrow.

Also my doctor said not to eat anything with 1 gram of fat or more???? What is this?  Everything has fat and your body and brain needs fat to function properly.  WTH?  I am confused and of course I dont want to commit to this but I also do not want to have another attack.  She said that eating fat causing the gallbladder to contract which could cause I stone to travel out of the gallbladder and cause an attack.

Like I said, I scared and confused.  This also may be a result of my tremendous weight loss this year.  (Yep I found it here-Rapid weight loss. As the body metabolizes fat during prolonged fasting and rapid weight loss—such as “crash diets”—the liver secretes extra cholesterol into bile, which can cause gallstones. In addition, the gallbladder does not empty properly.)That to me is unfair.  I lost the weight so I would not have health problems and this could be caused by it?

Salem trip on Saturday, not crazy about trying to eat there with this new less than a gram plan, but hopefully I will get more information on that tomorrow.  My right side is tender :(

I am grateful to the commenters that suggested I get checked, I would hate to leave this and have it get worse.  Thank you.

In other news my art history mid term was today and I think I did ok, we shall see!

  1. Aw man, that stinks - but at least you know what it is now, and you can get it taken care of. And even though you need to have the gallbladder removed, that's nothing compared to obesity-related diseases - those are much harder to treat and overcome!

  2. I'm so happy you went to have it looked at. I'm sure you would rather have it removed than to constantly have attacks. My gallbladder is not showing up on tests as sick enough to take out, so I have to suffer through attacks from time to time and it stinks. I was told the same thing about fat. From the material my doctor gave me, the surgery is not very invasive at all now. I'm sure everything will go well.

  3. I had my gallbladder out in my early twenties. My final attack was disastrous, my hands were shaky, the room was growing dark and I was turning a very pale yellow... my next stop was the emergency room. Thank Goodness you got it checked out when you did. I hope your meeting with the surgeon went well and helped ease your mind to what your next move will be. Hugs to you!
