Power Foods

I mentioned Power Foods in a previous post and now Ill explain what they are. Power Foods are foods that Weight Watchers has evaluated on their ability to be filling and their impact on your health. So they keep you fuller longer and they are good for you. All fresh fruit, most fresh vegetables, lean proteins, whole wheat grains, non-fat dairy and dairy substitutes, etc. are Power Foods. Weight Watchers makes it easy to find your Power Foods by putting a green triangle next to them in the books they give you and on their website. Power Foods can be 0 points, such as fresh fruits or low in points such as light sour cream and they can also be high in points such as 100% Whole Wheat homemade bread (one slice is usually about 7 points). The use of the green triangle, signifying a Power Food, comes into play when you are choosing between two foods such as white rice or wheat rice. Both rice options have the same amount of points but the wheat rice has a green triangle next to it because it is a better option for your body. (Click to Enlarge Image Below)
Some of my favorite Power Foods are bananas, apples, sugar snap peas, bell peppers, whole wheat bread, baby carrots and whole wheat rice.
